After many months of planning our building is finally underway. This is a pivotal moment for staff here at Black Bird as we are getting to see the fruits of our hard work over the last year. The facility is located in the beautiful Harmony River Valley, just 45 KM north of Sault Ste. Marie Ontario. The 20,000 square foot facility will be used to collect and process maple sap into maple products like maple syrup. The facility will feature state of the art equipment including: vacuum systems, refrigerated sap tanks, reverse osmosis machines and two huge propane powered evaporators.
Take a look at this drone footage of our facility. As you will see the foundations have been poured and the structural steel is being put up now. This drone footage also gives a good representation our sugar bush in the left of the shot.
This picture below shows the most of the structural steel is in place as well as the slab for the basement is poured. The next step will be to pour the foundation walls for the basement and finish the structural steel in that area.
Below is a rendering of what our facility will look like when it is all complete.
We expect the facility as well as our sugar bush will be operational in the spring of 2020.
Stay tuned for future updates of our facility progress.
